Pre-Conference: QSEN: Quality & Safety Education in Nursing Competencies

The purpose of this half day workshop is to review the QSEN competencies for pre-licensure and graduate nursing programs. These competencies, developed by the QSEN Collaborative and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation were published in the May/June 2007 Nursing Outlook. The purpose of the competencies is to is to prepare graduates with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to continuously improve the quality and safety of the health care systems in which they work. They will be integrated into the National League for Nursing and American Association of Colleges of Nursing essentials.

The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing presents its 5th National Patient Safety Conference: Partnerships in Patient Safety: Sharing the Evidence in Patient Safety & Quality. The aim of this year’s conference is to focus on evidence base practices and the dissemination of information that significantly assists health care providers and organizations to implement successful and innovative patient safety practices that improve quality of care and reduce patient harm. This conference will also provide a forum for health care professionals to exchange experiences and research related to the use of technology in patient safety. Poster sessions are intended to highlight the use of cutting edge patient safety models as they support the national patient safety goals.
