Academic Clinical Faculty Taskforce: Research Study – Electronic Healthcare

Hello to all Faculty who teach clinical nursing courses.

I am conducting a research study with Kimberly Dunker who is an Associate Professor at Worcester State University, Jennifer Ross who is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Villanova University, and Marilyn Ostendorf, who is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Southern Indiana.

The purpose of this study is to describe student nurses’ access to and use of electronic healthcare records and electronic medication administration systems, and the student nurses’ direct patient care clinical experiences. Nursing school faculty are anecdotally reporting that the quality of student clinical experiences is jeopardized, in part due to restrictions on student direct care experiences and access to essential patient information via the electronic healthcare records and medication administration records. However, the scope of these restrictions on student nurses in their clinical experiences is not known.

If you would like to participate, the link to the online survey is:

The complete assent to participate is there, which provides a full description of the study.

Please contact me for any questions.

Thank you,

Wendy Hansbrough
